Are you the sort of person who sweats the details and demands the best?We are looking for an exceptional Principal Gameplay Engineer to join the team and help craft Echtra’s next exciting cross-platform AAA ARPG game. We are looking for a top-tier gameplay engineer to tackle tough projects, optimize our workflow, and keep our build tight. You must have familiarity with the sorts of gameplay systems that are required to build ARPGs, an unquenchable desire to create, and strong knowledge of working with a large game engine like Unreal. You are detail oriented and can work well both on your own and with a team.Echtra Games is an experienced game studio based in San Francisco with a team of veteran game developers and visionary newcomers who work both on-site and remotely. Main Responsibilities

  • Understand game designs and systems, and make them a reality.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and artists to craft a great gameplay experience
  • Take personal responsibility for the everyday builds and gameplay experience.

Desired Skills And Experience

  • Strong experience working in a large game engine like Unreal Engine (we use UE5).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of software development experience.
  • Comfortable working in C++.
  • Have built multiple large gameplay systems and shipped them to users.

Bonus Skills And Experience

  • Project management experience.
  • Independent development experience.

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect:
Colorado: $100,000 and $170,000 per year
California: $125,000 and $220,000 per year
New York State (inclusive of New York City): $125,000 and $220,000 per year
Washington: $108,000 and $190,000 per year
Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also receive 16 paid holidays per calendar year, unlimited discretionary time off, and will receive up to 6.5 sick days per calendar year.
